Do you know the origins of
the word gerontology?
The word gerontology comes from
Greek: geron or geront (old man) and
English: ology (the study of)
The Greek work geron comes from Geros (the God of Old Age).
In ancient Greece, old age was considered a virtue whereby the more geras a person acquired, the more kleos (fame) and arete (excellence and courage) they possess.
